You'll be just fine using the cylinder with no oil on one side. The only time you might run into trouble is if you were lifting something that was maxing out your hydraulic pump, but even then, an H isn't that strong. Dad has some stuff that is set up one way and those cylinders seem just as good as 2 way ones. You might see some oil spurt out the breather hole every once in a while, but I wouldn't bet hat a 2 way doesn't have some oil sneak past the seals.
