Painting M

Im going to paint my 47 M and was going to buy the paint from my IH dealer and was wondering how much to buy? The M has a widefront and 6 wheel weights. Should i get the primer at the dealer also or somewhere else? I want it to look good so how many coats of paint should i apply? Should i take everything apart and paint or leave it together and paint it? Does any one have any tips on preparing it and painting? Thanks for any help you can give.
