You need a service manual or the sheet that comes with a carb repair kit, as I don't have the Carter specs handy. You adjust the float up or down by bending it at the tabs that attach to the pin that holds the float in the carb. There is a recommended measurement in inches, but usually, not always, the float is supposed to be parallel to the throttle body, when the throttle body is upside down. This allows the float to hang down to the proper level to regulate the level of gasoline.
