Nick: For the most part Scotty is right, however there are a few exceptions, 1,957 of them to be exact. They are Super A1 built in 1954 and the serial plate for those is on the left side of clutch housing. On the other 300,000+ A and SA, it is as Scotty indicated. Up until about 1951 those engine and tractor serial numbers will also be very close. After that SA engines changed and engine numbering was different.
