CJ, I prefer to have it together minus the hood and grill also. I even take the rims off the hubs with the tires on them so you can get the hubs real good. Also makes it easier to paint the rims. Case/IH 2150 is the right color paint for the '51 M (Red Rouge) I use a 12gal tank compressor with a regulator set at 30psi. Also have a water/oil filter so you don't blow any thing but paint thru the gun. This late in the year and depending what your humidity is like makes a big difference in drying time unless you have a paint booth with drying lights. (I don't). I use one bay of the shop and plastic everything, floor, walls, ceiling, and the shop drive apron. It's like putting your tractor in a big loose condom but makes clean up much easier. If you remove the rims, be careful while jacking up and supporting the tractor. Use timber stubs like RR ties or 6x12's. The M is a heavy bugger and can get away from you especially sideways. We want you back on here alive and with all your limbs. Good luck.
