Don't know how common this idea is but is the method I always use. Tires and rims are usually removed from the chassis during the painting. I do not remove the tires from the rims. I use a 1" slant bristle brush for the Chrome Aluminum Rustoleum rim color or if I were to spray the rims I'D mask off the rubber edge next to the rim and then use painters sheet plastic (3mil) masked to the first round of masking tape to cover the tire. Hubs get sprayed right along with the rest of the tractor.
