Hi Clanger, about 30 years my Dad was plowing with the 454D and the fan belt broke. He didn't notice it immediately and it overheated and blew the O rings on one of the cylinders. It started to leak coolant into the oil. He had the IH dealer replace all the O rings. The mechanic replaced all the rings and honed the cylinders at the same time.
It took about 30 Hrs of running before it started to run correctly.

Your 484 should get better after some running.
