Wow, lots of comments and fast...I am going to like this board! Anyway, yes I bought on owners/operators manual but it just specified 30W oil for above 32*, didn't say detergent or non. Sounds like it's not a life or death situation, either way. But yes, oils have come a LONG way since 1949, so I am still not sure which way to go. And the previous owner was a restorer/tinkerer with Farmalls, so he only owned the tractor about one year or less. I dont know what the other owners used for oil.
