Al,

International Harvester Company built a International 460 Utility, a International 460 Utility Hi-Clear, a Farmall 460 and a Farmall 460 Hi-Clear.

The International 460 Utility is a standard tread type tractor. It has a relative short wheelbase and the rear wheels are only adjustable where the rim bolts to the pressed steel wheel. The seating position is low where the driver basicly straddles the transmission. It is equipped with 24 or 28 inch rear tires. The Farmall 460 is a high profile row crop tractor. It can be equipped with a single front wheel, tricycle front wheels, or wide front axle. The driver sitas high on a flat platform over the transmission. It has long rear axles on which the cast rear wheels are slid for adjustment. It has 38 inch rear tires. The International 460 Utility Hi-Clear combines the two. It still has the short wheel base and low seating position of the international 460 but has the long rear axles and 38 inch wheels from the Farmall 460. The Farmall 460 Hi-Clear is a true high clearance tractor. It has a taller front axle than the regular Farmall and drop housings to the rear wheels to enable it to work in tall crops such a sugar cane.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this ... [Read Article]
