I have had to do this with my H puller. If it a 3 bolt starter, I have used a starter windings from a 560, it is 12 volt. Armature, and brush failuer is one of the main reasons for the starter not being able to crank over a high compression engine. Here is exactly what I did to crank over a 340 ci H engine with 300+psi of compression. I taken the starter to a local starter shop, and had it converted to 12 volt windings. I had them machine the area where the brushes set on the armature so it has a flat, clean surface for the brushes to ride. I run a 1000 cca battery, on the front of the tractor, and here is where the problem happened, The battery leads were not heavy enough to transfer the proper amp load to the starter, I hooked up the ground cable dirsctly to the front end and has a very short lead. I had to use a 10ga postive lead to the starter from the battery, after that it cranks it over with little problems. I have to keep a fully charged battery in it, otherwise it will not crank over fast enough to start. But it usually starts right up with in the first 2 revolutions. Hope this helps, ChadS

The Nuts and Bolts of Fasteners - Part 2 - by Curtis Von Fange. In our previous article we discussed capscrews, bolts, and nuts along with their relative hardness and thread sizes. In this segment we will finish up on our fasteners and then work with ways to keep them from loosening up in the field. Capscrews, bolts and nuts are not the only means of holding two parts together. When dealing with thinner metals like sheet tin, a long bolt and
