Mike, I have a 49 Super A that I am in the process of restoring also. I had the same problem as you. Can you believe I didnt find that flywheel line until I started to dissassemble the engine and had the timong cover off and was able to line the king marks up on the crankshaft and the timing gear. I finally found the mark on the flywheel! Any way, what I did to help me with timing was file a small groove in the top of the crankshaft pulley TDC and painted that groove white. So anyway Mike be patient and you will find it, it is not very pronunced and you may have to do some cleaning down there to help find it. scotty
