How do I set gap on my cub

I'm 15, bought a farmall cub and now it wont start. I've done the normal things like Changed condenser, points and plugs, not sure if I got gap set right. Set it at 20 thous- at flat side of rotor arbiture. is this right or is there a specific place on the arbiture to set gap? I really dont think the coil is at fault since it ran so good before, also I blame the weather- its 25 degrees in the shed- could this have something to do with it not starting? Also after crankin the cub a little gas seeps for carb- prob from floodin the thing- any info would be great ==thanks alot
