Since you started the engine easily once, but now it turns hard, I smell a rat. You might want to drop the oil pan and look at those rod bearings. I would bet that either you spun a bearing, or you have a bearing that is nothing but broken pieces of tin. Not a good deal, in any event. Running an engine this way will only cause more damage.

Pull the oil pan and check the clearance with plasti-gage. It is a nice cheap way to get peace of mind.
