A rearend stuck

I recently bought a 1945 Farmall A. Got it running and drove it around the property a couple times and parked it in the garage. A week later the reared is locked up and there is some noise from the driveshaft/tranny. Noise goes away when the clutch is in and the PTO shift lever is locked up tight. PTO isn't engaged and you can spin it by hand. It was -10 around here last night. Any help is appreciated.
