Jerry: Clicking noise usually indicates damaged teeth on gears. Could be at release bearing of clutch. Remember this driveline noises can travel and fool you. Trucks are a prime example. I have seen guys pull transmissions only to find problem at rear end. Best advise is listen carfully, get others to listen as you drive by, get them to drive by and you listen. Another good idea is stethiscope, move it around as you drive. Of course the cheap steathiscope, just broom handle, amazing what you can hear. That one can get a bit rough on the ear for moving checks.
