Remove bottom water inlet going into block. Bolt new pump up, add longer fan belt. You will no longer be able to use the temp. gauge if there was one. Some say that it circulates the water better. You probably won't hear it "gurgle" when you shut off. If you are working it really hard it might help some but if everything is in good working order it's really not necessary in my opinion. Al
