The bull gear is splined to the shaft. That
should not be the hang-up. Unless you have a press you are forced to beat it out of there.
If you have a torch you can warm the casting
around the inside and outside bearings. With
a 6 or 8 pound mall it will come out of there one way or another. You may want to replace the bearings if the beating becomes too severe.
