I never heard that!I have a coil on my M that has USE EXTERNAL RESISTOR on it and I dont have a resistor on it and its been that way for years.I always thought that was on there in case you wanted to drop the voltage or something.I havent burned up but one set of points in quite some time on it either.??????????Beats me.
