H steering gear

I am having trouble geting the driven steering gear off the shaft to the wheels. Are there any tricks to it or was it just a bad monday. Looks to be pressed onto some splines on top of the shaft. I do not have any of the bottom off, I don't know if thats what I'm missing. I am new to this and still learing any help would be great!
