I agree, sounds like you didn't retrieve the complete number. If you can't retrieve it off the serial number plate, you might want to resort to the serial number off the right side of engine block (possibly the same number, not all of them matched but likely on the earlier H's I think) or you can resort to casting codes on major castings.
