Sam some thing on yours must be bent or worn, are the ends of the rod in good shape where it fits into the brackets or or the holes on the bracket not worn. Where you hook the wrench on ours was a flat piece of steel about 1 inch wide bent into a horseshoe and welded to the rod. When the the wrench was put over the rod it should be pointing back and downward toward the pitmanthe edge of the wrench should move again the horseshoe quickly and be about 12:00 when the mower falls into place. Also ck the slots for smoothness and wear. I was mounting the mower by my self at 13 or 14 years old. Been a while I'm 62 now
