If you have an open center two way valve, it will work as a single acting valve if one port is plugged. However, on the down cycle, the inlet from the pump will be blocked and will load the pump. This could be bad on a 140, as I don't think the pump has an internal relief valve and the pump or drive gears could be damaged. I think on a 140, the relief valve is internal to the Touch Control Unit. If your remote is piped in such a way that the relief can't function when the remote is activated you best not pipe as a one way valve. You could install a relief valve in the line from the pump to avoid over pressure and resulting excess stress on the pump system.
