Hugh is probably right, they usually leak. And, the part number I gave is for a Super A, 140 may or may not be different, sorry, my CRS seems to be changing the words I read. A very common problem in the pump is that it lets hyd oil leak into the crankcase if the seal is bad, if you are going to look at the pump, replace that seal or o-ring and make sure there is no groove in the shaft -- not many people take as good care of tractors a Hugh.
