Tommy, the fact that your tractor has the hole in the hood, but no tank, means that it has been running on gasoline for quite some time now. The distillate was a very inexpensive fuel, cheaper even than gas, which was just what the farmer wanted. Only thing was, the tractor could not be started on distillate, so the small tank was provided for gasoline. The tractor was started on gasoline, and then, after it had warmed up for a few minutes, was switched over to run on the cheaper fuel.
