We have an early model 656 gas tractor (1965 model) that "free wheels" when the ta is on the low side and on a hill. A cousin of mine has a 706 that doesn't "free wheel" at all. I could have sworn that IH switched from the mechanical type ta's to the hydraulic ones when they introduced the 56 series. If this is so why does the 706 which is older than the 656 not "free wheel"? Could it be that it has an update in it with a hydraulic ta? Is the ta on our 656 out of adjustment which is causing it to "free wheel" or does it have the mechanical type ta which would "free wheel" anyway? (My cousin thinks that our ta is not adjusted properly.) Or were hydraulic ta's not offered on the 656? Thanks for any help.
