My 12V converted A wouldn't crank so I checked the Ever Start 625/550 with one of those eydropper hydrometers and found all the cells 50% or less. All the cells showed plenty of water, so I hooked up my manual charger and charged it for several hours @6 amps. The charging rate dropped to less than 2 amps, which, according to the charger instructions, indicated a full charge. However, the hydrometer still showed discharge..(2 cells 50%, 4 cells 25%). Imagine my surprise when I took it to Autozone, who pronounced it "fully charged!" I also recharged a 6 V battery (for the unconverted H)the same day. In that case, the hydrometer and charger meter agreed on discharge and charged. How can the specific gravity be so low on a charged battery? thanks,,,
