H Engine Sludge Cleaning

How do I go about cleaning the oil sludge in the engine.I took the pan ,valve cover,side panel, oil filter off. Sludge City. Do I attempt to do this or is it better left alone? The service manual said to use gas and light oil 50/50 mix.What is best way to flush it through and will any of the solvent and or sludge do any bearing damage.What kind of oil should be put back in it.I live in a warm climate and it is not going to be used as a working tractor.Thanks to all with any advice.
