leaky fuel

when i put gas in my tank it goes into the carburater(just replaced needle valve) but i tried to turn off the fuel....ah how do i do that? i couldnt seem to find a valve or anything but i didnt really look that hard either but can someone give me a guestimate as to ware i could shut it off or how which ever
