looking for year on Farmall A w/o a serial tag

Hello, I came across a farmall A and I wanted to look up the year, but I guess the tag had been removed because I couldn't find it anywhere, so I took down some casting numbers hopeing someone out there has a book on them. On the left side of the transmission 8638-DD, on the right side of the block 6342-DH, on the top right hand side of the block just before the head FAA97570.
I was thinking of buying this tractor, but with the missing tag, it has me leary, but I'm still curious as to the year of manufacture.
