If your trailer indeed weighs only 1000 lbs, which I seriously doubt, you are asking for serious trouble, maybe death to you or someone else trying to haul (I emphasize TRYING, because you darn sure aren't going to go 400 miles) a 5000 lb tractor on a 1000 lb trailer. if your trailer has anything less than two 3500 lb axles, you better not try. Even with two 3500 lb axles and a 2000 lb trailer, you are maxed out.
