Hello John T--The way I check a Generator for out put is --unhook the Arm and feild wires at the gen .Hook a known good headlight beam of the correct voltage to the Arm. Term. and ground
next connect a jumper wire momemtarily to the feild term and the + battery terminal . The light shud light to full brilliance. Regulators are best left to some one other than Myself OK???
