Timing mark on flywheel (hard to find, but I promise you it's there) should line up with the raised mark on the cover behind the oil pan, viewed from below. The timing marks should be aligned along with the rotor pointing to # 1. Pull the coil wire out of the dist cap and hold it next to the dist primary terminal, it should spark at TDC when everything is lined up. If not you have other problems.
