I'd try changing the oil before anything else. You will need to purge the whole system including cylinders. Use Hy-Tran or an equivalent.

These Liftall systems were made to use 30 wt nondetergent motor oil, and it gets thinner as it warms up. Detergent oil will foam when used in a hydraulic system, and foam displaces oil but won't pump very well.

The works good when cold thing might suggest oil that is too light. Your Liftall may also have worn pump gears or seals.
