Bob - Depends what type of alternator the rebuilder picks for you. If it's a "one wire" unit no warning lamp/resistor/diode is needed. A "3 wire" (the Delco 10SI) needs either a warning lamp, resistor or diode in the #1 control line for it to work. My recommendation is to go with the 3 wire. Cheaper than a one wire, and on a slow-revving tractor one wire units sometimes can not be spun up enough to get them to start charging. Punch below for a wiring diagram for the 3 wire Delco setup... Note! You'll still need the resistor inline with the ignition coil. It is there to limit current to the old 6 volt coil that's now fed from a 12 volt system.
