Gas Tank Scummy? See if you can withdraw some of that scummy concentrate with a length of wood stick out of the gas tank.
Get some acetone from your local hardware store.
Place 2 or 3 ounces in a clean bowl. Introduce
the gas scum from the end of your sampling stick
into the acetone bowl. If it loosens up or dissolves the dastardly scum you may have a good gas tank cleaning solution.
Discharge any scum/dirt laden acetone solution into an evaporating container(like a galvaized wash tub). Be careful with sparks, open flame or
cigarettes anywhere near the gasoline or acetone
of this cleaning operation. Have an extinguisher
handy during this cleaning period. Good luck and work safely.
