I haven't worked on a carburetor yet that didn't clean up with something like NAPA or MACS carb. cleaner, and I have seen some very nasty ones. The trick is to completely disassemble the carb. and soak it overnight in the cleaner, then rinse the carb. parts with HOT water, and blow dry with compressed air. This procedure has never failed. If the gas tank itself needs a good cleaning, muriatic acid will do the trick. It's the most effective and least expensive way I have found. Also the easiest and quickest.
