Congrats on your new purchase! Even though I have one I don't know alot about them. Mine does have 3 forward gears, and the timing advance is on the front of the mag. all the way up is to shut it off, about half way to start and all the way down to run. Carefull cranking it, they sometimes kick back. My crank flew off and hit me in the head. So I made an adaptor for a 14" pully and allways rope start mine. Much safer! and it only cost a few bucks. Good luck with your new purchase!
