Another company, Heisler made a similar unit that doubled the speeds in gears 1 thru 4. My dad looked at both MW and Heisler, in early "50s and opted for Heisler due to a mechanical rod linkage instead of the cable.He had it installed in a 1944 H This made a great tractor for the roads, and pulling loads. Tractor is still working, and never has had transmission cover lifted since.

Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
