John, On my JD backhoe I was able to crank the engine with the starter and get the hoe to raise, the outrigers up and the front blade up. It was pretty simple and they raised quick enough that I didn't have to crank too much and hurt the starter. I put jumper cables on the battery to my truck cause the battery was dead. Once everything was up I could tow it easy. I only had to go across the street though. At least you could get it loaded easier.
