Thanks for your response. Today at a tractor show I was told that the numbers should match. I went to Guy Fay's book, which indicated that in some tractors they do match but not in all. Your answer makes me feel better about my tractor, although after all these years one could certainly expect the tractor to have had a replacement engine sometime.
