We put a TA in a diesel 706 for a customer, recently, and a rear main seal, as he complained it had been leaking for years. For so may years, in fact, that he had the dealer put a rear main seal in it years ago... and the dealer's been gone since the mid 70's! Anyhow, it still leaks from the clutch housing. We tracked down the leak. There are steel pipes cast into the actual cast-iron belly-section of the tractor for various hydraulic functions. The pipe that carries the power steering valve supply oil from the MCV up to the steering valve has a flaw in it up inside the casting of the flywheel housing, directly behind the clutch release fork shaft, on the LH side of the tractor, causing it to ooze HyTran into the clutch housing! Has anyone encountered this before? I'm sure this must have leaked since new, and the dealer did not track down the source of the leak. We are going to try to plug both ends of the internal oil passage, and route an external oil line from the MCV to the steering valve. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
