454 engine noise,clacking

not quaking,, I have a 454 with a loader on it, the tractor runs strong and pulls good, I have noticed in the last few weeks that when I shut the engine off it sounds like a clacking sound,sort of like maybe something maybe loose,the noise sounds like it is towards the rear of the engine on the left side,near the inspection covers, could something have come loose in the engine? and if I take that cover off will I see my connecting rod floating in the breeze?? thansk for any help, pat
