You say you have the four position switch. Do you have a regulator or do you still have the cut out relay that was part of the system with the 4 position switch. If you have the cut out, you can tell by taking the cover off it. There will only be one coil in there. Wiring is different if you have the cut out. Other description given by gene is for a regulator. Post back if you have the cut out and I will give more complete info.
