In the early 1980's, when my dad was still running his Farmall repair shop, a customer--actually a very distant cousin--came to us about restoring his '39 Farmall B. Since his tractor was rare for this area--single front tire/"horseshoe" instead of the 2-tire "tricycle", plus the 1/4-turn fasteners on the hood and grille rather than the usual spring latches, Dad agreed to work on it, and I agreed to help. Customer SWORE the tractor had run "6 months ago", but when we got into it, the engine was locked up tight...to the point where SOMEBODY had pulled it to try to drop the clutch and break it loose...I still have the horseshoe-shaped rod and piston hanging on the wall. And the tractor that had run "6 months ago" was missing the carb venturi, indicating that, even if it HAD run "6 months ago", it certainly hadn't run in THIS condition! So we busted our butts and made it run, and made it pretty with new paint and decals and all the right equipment, and had it ready for the Lanesville, IN show that September, as the owner had requested...and then he stiffed us on half the bill. So, on THIS one, it WASN'T worth it...but yours might be.

I say GO FOR IT.
