Keep in mind that filling the dust cap with grease isn't necessarily going to get the grease into the bearings. Especially the inner one. If your hub was designed with a gease zerk I would go for it. Since it wasn't I would personally want to take the hub off and manually pack them. I have seen people rub grease on a bearing and think that they have "packed" it. Most of these old tractors aren't being "used and abused" like they were when they were the "big" tractor on the farm. It doesn't take much to re-pack a bearing. Easier than replacing the bearing and race. Just my $0.02 worth.
