Did you try it after you got it stsrted by pulling it with starter? I have had my 460 about 27 years hold glow plugs a couple of mins. then start cranking still holding glow plugs and after it starts you will have to hold them until it will stay running [difference between 236 eng and 282] mine always starts on 4 then progresses to all 6 even right after a overhaul. Very smooth running eng. mine will pull left and right New Holland rakes all day on 1/2 gal per hr. a smaller gas tractor won't do that
