If you can, find out what the previous owner(s) have used in your tractor for motor oil. If they've all used 30W find out if it was non detergent or not. If not, stick with non detergent oil. If you use detergent oil in it, the cleaning action can break loose sludge and clog up oil passages. Rotella has lots of cleaning properties. I use it in all of my engines, big and small with good luck. However, when I get a new piece of equipment and I don't know the history of what oil was run in it, I pull of the valve cover or engine head and see what the inside looks like. Very gunky, use non detergent. If not, use Rotella with a little STP oil treatment. Engine will stay very clean and last a loooooonnnnnngggg time.
