The new spec for this is HTF or Hy-Tran. Having said this, I would check w/ your Case/IH dealer. It probably called for 80-90, or 90 when it was new. In terms of viscosity, most hydraulic oils would be about a 75w85 if measured as they do gear lube. So basically, if you want to use Hy-Tran, you are safe, if you would like something stiffer, check w/ your dealer. I *think* the check plugs are normally on the side, about 1/3 of the way up.
