biggest problems found with poor charging generators are bad grounds on the voltage regulator. You voltage regulator has 3 or 4 terminals. The "G" and "F" go to the two terminals on the generator. The "B" goes to the battery, (normally the ampmeter). IF you have a "L" terminal this is normally routed to the light switch or key switch and is HOT when running. IF you dont have the "L", then the "B" terminal is taking care of both. On a 6 volt system you have the light switch controlling the "F" terminal and acting as current regulator. THe light switch on a 12 volt system is normally not used in this fashion as the current regulator is part of the voltage regulator box. Again, clean the wires and make sure the regulator is proplerly grounded to get good charge.
