Being as how this part does not cost that much, and coud possiby eave you stranded out in the field if you have to shut the tractor down, I would vote for replacing it. Your local Tractor Supply Company should have one on the shelf. These things aren't like big Deere's where you can short across the solenoid terminals with a screwdriver if they fail. However, anyone reading this and getting the idea to short across those terminals, MAKE SURE THE TRACTOR IS IN "P" PARK OR IN NEUTRAL WITH THE BRAKES LOCKED BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS!!!! That being said, some of those old willy's jeeps had solenoids with a button on the top that would close the solenoid if the electric portion failed. That's just an example of an idea that died with the advent of lawyers. Just my $.02
